The Government of Punjab planned to celebrate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, falling in 2019, throughout the country and across the globe, in a grand and befitting manner along with State Governments and the Indian Missions abroad. Guru Nanak Devji’s teachings of love, peace, equality, and brotherhood have eternal value.
The highlights of the events included the development of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, development of the historic town of Sultanpur Lodhi, associated with the life of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, commemorative coins and stamps, religious activities and publications, special trains for pilgrims, a dedicated website, mobile application and a strong social media presence for the 15 day-long events.
TACT was given the digital mandate for the event with an aim to build a website, application and do the overall online marketing of the event.
One of the key challenges was the language barrier as the content flow was in Punjabi. Secondly, the activities around the event happened worldwide. Tapping each and every source was difficult. We had an on-ground team in Punjab with good command in Punjabi. The content was collected from multiple sources thus creating a repository of all the events around Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The primary challenge for the project was to create a smooth and seamless digital experience for the pilgrims and the tourists and at the same time put forth an immersive, engaging, and aesthetically pleasing design. Additionally, the visual impact of the 550 years of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s website and application has to be consistent with the event identity.
We developed a multi-lingual website and mobile application supporting content in Punjabi and English languages. The site was built using a custom Content Management System (CMS).
Other functionality for the website included users subscribing to mailers, promotions, and other updates. Social media channels for 550 years of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s were also integrated with the website to enable easier social sharing.
