Tourism Portal For One Of The Most Diverse Tourist Destination

We were asked to create a digital presence for one of the leading Tourism boards across the globe and promote the country as a world-class tourist destination. The client was looking to harness the capabilities of web 2.0 and develop a digital platform that provides the visitors with relevant, personalized and contextual digital experience escalating tourism awareness, attraction and opportunities.

Challenges

The portal was facing numerous challenges like

  • Struggling to reach premium and affluent travelers
  • Competing with other campaigns for the attention of their key audience
  • Identifying and communicating a distinct side of India that general audiences would not know about already. The client wanted to inspire and educate audiences that India has something for every kind of traveller
  • The biggest challenge still remained the curation of all prominent tourist destinations across India and the best possible design to cover all the aspects of any destination.

Solution

India being as diverse as it is the solution also needed a different approach to tap each kind of traveller. After extensive research across the various international tourism portals we focused on the following aspects:

Informative Portal: The major purpose of the portal was to provide the user with the authentic and detailed information around the major travel destinations in India. We curated the content across all states and UTs and identified the offerings for each destinations. The design and media was shortlisted to compliment the aesthetics.

Personalisation: The portal also made use of the tools to identify the visitor and establish their persona. The destinations and experiences were then served to the visitor based on their travel type.

Engagement: The portal also included the mechanism to engage the visitors by providing them the option to create their travel itineraries and lists. The live social feeds helped the user stay up to date with the travel scenes in India.
